Our signature festival returns for its 14th year with hundreds of free-flying butterflies from the tropical United States and Costa Rica, two outdoor butterfly breezeways aflutter with native species, children's activities, an art exhibit and more.
This year, the festival spotlights the often overlooked beauty of the moth. Native magnificent native moths include the silver moon-eyed Cecropia, the scary-eyed Polyphemus and the streamer-tailed green Luna. Along with these beauties, the display will include some oversized tropical moths that will amaze you with their size and beauty.
6 p.m. Friday, August 6
Explore the magical world of moths! Start with milkshakes on the terrace, followed by a short indoor program with hands-on activities for kids of all ages. As the sun sets, we'll head back outside and attract moths to identify with local experts.
Tickets are $15/adults ($10/members) and $6/children ($5/members) and include Garden admission, all activities and one milkshake. Picnic packs may be ordered in advance by calling 816-697-2600 x209. Additional beverages will be available for purchase.
