Pathways in Learning Field Trips are the cure for "Nature Deficit Disorder." At Powell Gardens, we take pride in researching "best practices" in hands-on educational programs, paying close attention to the state science standards you as a teacher need to teach, in order to offer a learning experience that students will enjoy and you can justify.
Pathways in Learning Programs are designed to meet your scheduling needs, whether you can stay one hour or half a day. Now is the time to choose your path!
PATH 1: SEED STARTERS 60-minute programs Seed Starters are field trips to Powell Gardens that provide an excellent hands-on opportunity to "do science." They spark imagination and provide unique opportunities for learning. Place us on your field trip list and bring an unforgettable "natural" experience to your students. PATH 2: GARDEN GROWERS Heartland Harvest Garden 3-hour Program
What will a Garden Growers field trip in the new Heartland Harvest Garden at Powell Gardens look like? Here is a sneak peak.
Garden Growers field trips begin fall 2010. Our Youth Garden Fun Foods Farm is under construction and almost complete. The economy and weather slowed us down, but look for us to catch up fast!

SCOUT LEADERS
Our programs can help your scouts earn badges. Your scouts can take a nature hike, investigate a pond, tour the gardens, or help us in the Youth Garden. Are you studying a special topic that Powell Gardens can enhance with a field trip? If the listed programs do not fit your curriculum and your class is learning about a subject appropriate to the Gardens' setting and resources, let us know! We would be happy to design a special field trip for your class.
AWAY PROGRAMS
Bring a little bit of Powell Gardens into your classroom. Popular away programs include classroom versions of Ladybugs and Butterflies, Worms for Supper, and Bug Hunters. We can bring many of our programs to you, or we can host these programs at Powell Gardens at a lower cost. Schedule multiple visits and save even more. TEACHER IN-SERVICE WORKSHOPS
You are a very important part of our education mission and we encourage you to take advantage of our unique learning environment. Special workshops include Project Learning Tree, Project Wet, Designing and Using Outdoor Classrooms, Butterfly Gardens, and Art in Nature. Call to arrange a workshop for your school or grade level.
