Due to heavy rains on July 2, we rescheduled Booms & Blooms for Saturday September 3, 2016. Pack a picnic and join us for live music, kids' activities and fireworks!  

9 a.m.-5 p.m. Greater Kansas City Dahlia Society Show (Multipurpose Room)

12-6 p.m. Heartland Harvest Garden Tasting Station is open. (Missouri Barn) 

2 p.m. Fresh Bites with Barb: Patriotic Pasta—Sample Barb's gnocchi made with red, white and blue potatoes grown in the Heartland Harvest Garden. (Missouri Barn)

2-4 p.m. Coloring Station, hosted by Maureen Carroll, author of The Tree Who Walked Through Time: A Tree Identification Story (Visitor Center) 

3-4:30 p.m. Warrensburg Recorder Consort (performing in the Visitor Center) 

4:15-5 p.m. Spin, POP, Boom! Presented by Mad Science of Greater Kansas City (Missouri Barn) 

4-7 p.m. Sister Act Face Painting (Visitor Center, fee: $5) 

5-6 p.m. American Legion Band Ensemble (performing on Visitor Center terrace) 

6:15-8:15 p.m. An Evening with Singer-Songwriter Kelley Hunt and Friends (performing outdoors on peninsula)

Food and Drink 

Throughout the day, enjoy great food from our own Café Thyme and some of our favorite vendors:

Festival Admission

$12/adults; $10/seniors 60+; $5/children ages 5-12

Children under 5 get in free.

Festival admission includes all day access to the Gardens, including the Heartland Harvest Garden and the Jurassic Garden exhibition, parking, trolley/tram service and performances. Note: Portions of the Garden, which include Jurassic Garden sculptures, will close early to allow for fireworks setup. See the schedule to the right.

What to Know Before You Go

  • Picnics are allowed in performance area only. Please don't bring alcohol to the Gardens. Due to a change in licensing, outside alcohol is NOT allowed. Beer and wine is available for purchase on site. 
  • Bring a blanket or lawnchair, so you can relax and enjoy Kelley Hunt's performance and the fireworks display outdoors. 
  • The Gardens get very dark after sundown. Although we will use temporary lighting after the fireworks, you may want to bring a flashlight. 
  • Please make note of your parking location when you arrive. 
  • No pets (other than guide dogs) are allowed in the Gardens. 
  • Performances may be cancelled in the event of extreme weather. Refunds are not available. 
  • Trolley transportation to and from the visitor center will end at 5:30 p.m. (The tram will be running from the visitor center to the Missouri Barn from 4-7 p.m.)
  • Some portions of the Gardens will close early for preparation of the fireworks display. Please plan accordingly (see closing times below).
