Festival of Lights will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

Festival of Lights: Enchantment, illuminated by Evergy, returns to Powell Gardens for its fourth year. Festival goers will walk a mile-long path spread out over 25 acres through the Gardens featuring a variety of immersive light displays. (The path is ADA compliant, and shorter options are available. Tram rides from the Missouri Barn to the Visitor Center will be available 5-10 p.m..)

More than 20 miles of holiday lights comprise installations that highlight the natural forms of Powell Gardens’ tree collection, show off the exceptional architecture and landscape design of the Gardens, and transport visitors to enchanted wonderlands, with plenty of Instagram and holiday card-worthy photo stops along the way. Don’t miss the brand new Enchanted Tiki Bar and Santa’s Workshop!

Enchanted Tiki Bar
Enter a greenhouse transformed into a holiday-themed enchanted tiki bar complete with island cocktails, live tropical plants and music. Mele Kalikimaka! 

 

 

Perennial Lounge
Stock up on garden-inspired and locally made gifts, sweet treats by local confectionaries from at the Conifer Candy Bar, and coveted poinsettias grown at Powell Gardens each year in the Perennial Lounge, located in the Visitor Center. 

Fountain of Light, by Quixotic
The Fountain of Light installation will transform the Fountain Garden, combining reflective structures, lighting design, and sound elements to create depth and space evolving into a fully immersive environment for the viewer.

Festival Favorites

Creation Station
Visit the Creation Station in the Visitor Center to make this year’s holiday-themed make-and-take craft, a pinecone ornament. Then visit the Education Building in the Children’s Garden to play two life-sized board games and enjoy an additional holiday craft.  

Holly Jolly Rest Stop
Enjoy hot drinks (spiked and not!), frosted cookies, and savory snacks at this festive outpost at the Missouri Barn, will have fire pits where families can cozy up together on the adjacent lawn in front of a spectacular view of the display in the Villandry Garden.

Head up to the top of the Silo and gaze out over the Gardens and experience the twinkling wonderland from above. 

Photo Stops
Take the perfect Instagram or holiday card-worthy photo while you explore. The display provides plenty of holiday lights, rosy cheeks, and winter scenery to make your photo one of a kind! 

COVID-19 Safety

December 1, 2020 – In response to the recent increases in COVID-19 cases in the area, updated guidelines from local health officials and visitor feedback, Powell Gardens leadership has updated festival safety precautions as follows: 

  • Non-members are required to make daily reservations online to manage capacityAdvanced reservations allow us to provide a contactless experience and regulate the number of visitors to the Gardens. These tickets can be used any time between 4-10 p.m. on the day selected. To ensure availability, purchase tickets online before arrival. 
  • Members do not need to make advanced reservations and will be able to access the Gardens by showing their membership card upon entry. (Please note, if you do not have your current membership card, please provide your name to the front desk associate upon arrival and you will be checked in.)
  • Tickets purchased before December 1, 2020 may still be used any night of the festival.  Please bring paper or digital tickets purchased before December 1, 2020 to the front desk to access the Gardens.  
  • Member and pre-purchased tickets are accounted for in Garden capacity. 
  • Festival of Lights: Enchantment is an outdoor, rain or shine event. Tickets are non-refundable. However, if the Gardens close due to inclement weather, advanced reservations for that day may be used on remaining festival nights.  
  • In accordance with Johnson County, MO and other local health mandates, masks continue to be required indoors, in marked mask zones, and outdoors where social distancing is not possible.  
  • Tables and chairs have been removed from the Visitor Center to eliminate gathering in high-traffic areas. Benches and tables are spread out on the path.  
  • Additional side exits have been added to eliminate two-way traffic at the end of the path 
  • The Winter Wine Bar in the Heartland Harvest Garden has been closed for the season.  Staff at this location have been deployed to other areas of the Gardens to help with line management and other festival needs. Fire pits remain in the Heartland Harvest Garden for guests to enjoy. 
  • The Grand Hall Bar, Enchanted Tiki Bar and Holly Jolly Rest Stop remain open 4-9:30 p.m. serving beverages as well as sweet and savory treats. 
  • Festival hours continue to be limited to 4-10 p.m. to ensure our custodial staff can maintain increased sanitization procedures 
  • To make the festival enjoyable for all guests, visitors are encouraged to follow CDC recommendations and practice social distancing during their visit.

Powell Gardens is back with our biggest event of the year! We are in need of volunteers to assist with parking, checking-in festival goers, and working concession services. (All volunteers will receive two free tickets to the festival and dinner will be provided for those who work longer than 3.5 hours.) See below for dates and times to volunteer!
