Pawpaws are America’s largest native fruit and Missouri`s state fruit tree. Ripeness can be detected by yellow skin, sweet fragrance, and becoming soft to the touch (think avocado). Pawpaw will fall from the tree when ready but can be encouraged with a gentle shake!
