Biological Survey Team (April)
Sunday, April 19 | 1-4 p.m.
Powell Gardens
Join us for a hands-on biodiversity survey as we explore and document the living ecosystems within Powell Gardens’ restoration target zones. This interactive BioBlitz invites volunteers of all ages and experience levels to participate in real scientific data collection, helping us better understand the diversity of plants, insects, fungi, and birds that inhabit these landscapes.
Participants will work alongside Kat Carney, a student of ethnobotany, entomology, mycology, and ornithology, who will guide volunteers in observing, identifying, and recording species found throughout the survey areas. Together, participants will photograph and catalog organisms using the iNaturalist app and other citizen-science tools, contributing valuable data that helps inform ongoing restoration efforts.
All ages welcome! Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and protective gear to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
