Frequently Asked Questions
After your renewal or purchase of a new membership, you will receive a membership packet via postal mail. This packet will include your membership cards and an acknowledgment letter that should be kept for tax purposes (your membership dues are fully tax-deductible). If you do not receive your membership materials within 3-4 weeks, please notify the membership office by calling 816.697.2600 or sending an email to membership@powellgardens.org. (During the holiday season, please allow for additional time due to high volume.)
If you purchased your membership online, an email receipt will automatically arrive via the email you provided. If you purchased your membership on site or over the phone, the option of an email receipt will be provided. If you purchased a gift membership, the receipt will only come to you and not the recipient. Please note, recipients are not notified via email, rather their membership materials will arrive by mail. Delivery dates are not guaranteed.
Due to inclement weather, please allow extra time for your membership materials to arrive. Delivery dates are not guaranteed due to post office delays. Memberships are non-refundable (either in partial or in full), non-exchangeable, and non-transferable.
Yes, membership contributions are 100% tax-deductible. Please save the acknowledgment letter, included with your membership packet letter for tax purposes.
Memberships are valid for one year after the purchase date. No refunds, extensions, or exchanges will be granted if for any reason you are unable to utilize your member benefits during that time.
Please note, your membership expiration date is located on the back of your membership card and included in your acknowledgement letter sent via mail.
Memberships, member benefits, and membership cards are non-transferable. A maximum of two membership cards (excludes Tulip Tree) will be issued for any membership level. These two cards will reflect the primary and, if chosen, secondary individual listed on the membership (excludes Tulip Tree who will have one name on one card). If you request more than two names (or one name with the Tulip Tree level) on the membership or membership cards, the extra names will be removed.
For example, Jane and John Doe have bought a Magnolia membership and wish to list Jane Doe, John Doe, and Jim Doe. Jane and John are in the same household and the membership is in their name. The membership cards will be issued with their names only and Jim Doe will be removed. If Jim Doe wishes to use the membership, Jane or John must be present with him at the time of his visit.
Members must be present for non-member guests to be admitted at no charge, only for as many total adults as the membership allows. For example, if the primary and secondary member listed on a two-person membership are present and bring guests, the complimentary admission will only apply to the total number allowed (2) and extra guests will need to pay for admission. Individuals listed on any membership must live in the same household.
If a secondary user of the membership is not listed, then Powell Gardens will not issue a “guest” membership card for use. Just one will be given to the member listed on the membership. Please refer to guest policies for further use information.
Once you have purchased your membership, you can visit the Gardens at any time. Simply provide your first and last name when you check in at the front desk in the Visitor Center.

Complimentary admission is only applied to as many total individuals as the membership level allows. If this number is exceeded, the extra guests will need to pay for admission.
Please note, members-only events only allow in the total number of individuals for that membership level. Admission tickets to these events are not sold at the door. Members can upgrade their membership or the extra guests may purchase a membership to attend.
For example, a White Pine membership allows 2 total adults in with complimentary general and festival admission. If the primary member and the secondary member both visit, the max number of 2 adults has been reached. If just one person listed on the membership arrives with a non-member, the complimentary admission will be extended to both of them.
Your membership expiration date is located on the back of your membership card(s) below your name and next to your membership level. If you have misplaced your card(s), it is also located on your tax acknowledgement letter originally provided with your card(s).
