Daffodil Days is coming to Powell Gardens (March 29-April 9)! In addition to more than 100,000 daffodils emerging on the East Lawn, look for new daffodil spirals in the Heartland Harvest Garden, including the Apple Court and mass plantings near the Villandry. Daffodil Days encourages visitors to learn about daffodil divisions in person and online with a virtual Garden Explorer tour.

Orchids, like any plant, need special care to thrive. Here are our favorite orchid tips for home growers! What would you add?

💧 Avoid overwatering. An overly watered plant may develop root rot. Test soil with your fingers and allow soil to dry some between watering.
.
🌤️ Try placing an orchid near an east or south facing window to give your plant just enough (but not too much) light.
.
🌱 Orchid roots need air! Orchid potting medium should be open, with exceptionally good drainage, as well as able to hold sufficient moisture to support the plant’s needs.

Ribes odoratum, commonly called clove currant, will start making its appearance soon! This shrub features bright yellow blooms and a strong clove-like scent. It attracts not only humans, but pollinators as well.

As an early to mid-spring bloomer, this shrub is often buzzing with inset activity! The currant fruit produced later is edible.
