tHE fOUNTAIN gARDEN

The Fountain Garden serves to connect Powell Gardens, Kansas City’s botanical garden, to the City of Fountains. Centered between the Visitor Center, the Heartland Harvest Garden and the Conifer Garden, this summertime favorite features a 42-foot diameter interactive water feature, surrounded by panicle hydrangeas, colorful annuals, burgundy ninebarks, and cannas. The fountain’s basin is designed with a floral motif composed of different colors and textures of granite.

When activated, the fountain’s 56 spray heads create the impression of an opening flower and offer visitors a refreshing spray on hot summer days. Low walls surround the fountain and act as garden seats that provide a space for relaxation while the cascading terrace steps lead to an overlook providing an aerial view of this summertime gem.
