A Literacy-in-Nature Project

Embark on a journey through the Gardens with Trail Tales, a literacy-in-nature project. Follow the children’s story Cricket in the Thicket, written by Carol Murray, through the Heartland Harvest and Children’s Gardens, and enjoy interactive children’s activities that bring the poems to life.

Included with garden admission | Free for members and Mid-Continent Public Library cardholders
Visit September 12, 2020 and show your Mid-Continent Public Library card (only one per family is needed) to receive free garden admission. This special day will include a book signing with the author of Cricket in the Thicket, Carol Murray, and a make-and-take craft activity creating insect-themed adornments.
Saturday, September 26 & Sunday, September 27 | 12 – 4 p.m.

Visit Powell Gardens’ Hedge Apple Days to enjoy seed-themed scavenger hunts, nature games such as hedge apple bowling, and the iconic Hedge Apple Goblin craft. Search for, collect, and play with the unique seeds and seed pods from Missouri’s native plants.
