KINGSVILLE, Missouri – Powell Gardens is thrilled to announce Kansas City-based glass artist Tyler Kimball (Monarch Glass Studio) as the featured artist for Painted Garden. Kimball’s mesmerizing glass installation, Growth, will be on display in Powell Gardens’ glass-domed Conservatory from April 26 through June 15, 2025. This large-scale work, composed of sculpted wisteria vines and illuminated glass obelisks, celebrates the interplay of light, nature, and human artistry.

“Tyler Kimball’s work is a true reflection of the wonder and vibrancy of Painted Garden,” said CEO Cody Jolliff. “Our spring exhibition aims to connect art and the natural world. Kimball’s ability to harness light and color through glass aligns perfectly with the Midwest beauty at Powell Gardens. We are honored to showcase his work and invite the community to experience this one-of-a-kind installation.”

To mark the opening of Painted Garden, Powell Gardens will host a kick-off brunch with the artist on Saturday, April 26, offering guests the opportunity to hear directly from Kimball while enjoying mimosas, coffee, and brunch on the Visitor Center Terrace. Brunch tickets are available at www.powellgardens.org/events-and-classes. Reservations are required by April 21, 2025.

“For me, creating glass art alongside the people I love in my Kansas City studio is not just a career but the joy of my life,” said Kimball. “Seeing my work come to life in a space like Powell Gardens, where nature and art merge, is an incredible experience. I hope visitors are inspired by the growth and transformation reflected in this piece.”

Painted Garden is included with general admission. For more details, visit www.powellgardens.org/painted-garden.
